Privacy Policy
This page explains what happens to your information when you use this website. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it properly.
The short version. This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from anyone else's servers. Nothing is recorded about your visit. The only information we ever receive is what you deliberately type into the enquiry form and send us. We use it to reply to you, and nothing else.
01 Who we are
Arbab Advisory is the accounting and advisory practice of Arbab Abdur Rahman, ACCA, [[TRADING_STATUS]], at [[ADDRESS]].
For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described on this page. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are answerable for it. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number [[ICO_NUMBER]].
You can reach us at abdur@arbabadvisory.com about anything on this page, including to exercise any of the rights in section 07.
02 What we collect
When you send us an enquiry
The consultation form is the only part of this site that sends us anything. When you submit it, we receive:
- Your name
- So we know who we are speaking to.
- Your email address
- So we can reply in writing.
- Your phone number
- So we can call you, which is how we usually arrange a first conversation.
- Your country
- Because the rules that apply to your business depend on where it is.
- Your preferred time to call
- So we ring at a time that suits you.
- Your message
- Whatever you choose to tell us. Please do not send confidential financial documents through this form — we will arrange a secure way once we are talking.
- Which pricing you were shown
- Whether the UK or US plans were on screen when you wrote to us, so we quote you in the right currency instead of asking you to repeat yourself.
- Your consent
- A record that you ticked the box agreeing to be contacted, and when.
Submitting the form also triggers an automatic confirmation email to the address you gave us, so you have written proof your enquiry arrived. It is a single message, it is not marketing, and it does not add you to any list.
If you used the savings calculator before getting in touch, the message box is filled in for you with the figures you entered — your estimated hours, what you said your time is worth, and the plan it suggested. You can see it, edit it, or delete it entirely before you send anything. It is only ever sent because you sent it.
The savings calculator
Everything the calculator does happens inside your own browser. The numbers you move the sliders to are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see them. If you close the page without submitting the form, they are gone.
Your region preference
The site shows either UK or US pricing. To work out which to show you first, your browser's own time zone setting is read on your device — for example, a time zone in the Americas gets US pricing. That reading happens locally and is never sent anywhere. We do not look up your IP address and we do not use any location service.
If you then choose a region yourself, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage
under the name arbab-region, so the site remembers it next time. It contains
nothing but the word gbp or usd. It is not a cookie, it is not
transmitted as you browse, and you can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site
data. The one exception is the enquiry form: if you choose to send it, we record which of
the two price lists you were looking at, as listed above.
Records kept by our web host
Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider, and hosting providers keep routine server logs that typically include visitors' IP addresses, the time of the request and the browser used. These are created by the host as part of delivering and securing the site. We do not use them to build any profile of you, and we do not combine them with anything else.
03 What we do not do
This is worth stating plainly, because it is unusual:
- No cookies. This site sets none at all. That is why you were not asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no heatmaps, no session recording, and no visitor counter of any kind.
- No advertising or tracking. We do not run ads, we do not use retargeting, and we do not share anything with advertising networks.
- No third-party content. The fonts, images and code this site uses are all served from the site itself. Nothing loads from an external server, so no other company learns that you visited.
- No selling or renting your data. Not ever, to anyone, for any amount.
- No marketing lists. Sending an enquiry does not sign you up to anything. We reply to what you asked and that is all.
04 Why we are allowed to use it
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for using personal information. Ours are:
- Consent
- You tick a box before sending the enquiry form. You can withdraw that consent whenever you like by emailing us, and we will stop and delete what we hold.
- Legitimate interests
- Responding to someone who has asked us to get in touch, and keeping our own record of that conversation, is something you would reasonably expect. We have considered whether it intrudes on you and concluded that replying to your own enquiry does not.
- Performance of a contract
- If you go on to become a client, we need your information to actually do the work you have engaged us for.
- Legal obligation
- As an accountancy practice we must keep certain client records, including anti-money-laundering identification records, for periods fixed by law. Those obligations override a request to delete client records, and we will tell you if that applies to you.
05 Who else sees it
We do not share your information with anyone except the service providers we need in order to receive and reply to your message:
- Resend — our email delivery provider
- When you submit the form, Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) delivers the message to our inbox and sends you the confirmation email. It acts as our processor, only handles the fields listed in section 02, and keeps a delivery record so we can tell whether an email actually arrived.
- Vercel — our web host
- Serves the pages, runs the small piece of code that passes your enquiry to Resend, and keeps the routine logs described in section 02. Your message is not stored there; it is passed straight on.
- Our email provider
- Your message arrives in, and is stored in, our business email account.
Some of these providers are based in the United States, which means your information may be transferred outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an approved adequacy decision. You can ask us for details of the provider we currently use and the safeguards in place.
We will also disclose information if we are legally required to — for example under a court order, or where a professional or anti-money-laundering obligation compels it.
06 How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become work. Kept for [[RETENTION]] from your last contact with us, then deleted.
- Client records. Kept for as long as the law and our professional obligations require. For accountancy and anti-money-laundering records that is generally a number of years after the engagement ends.
- Your region preference. Stored on your own device until you clear your browser data. We never receive it.
07 Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- ask us to delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it;
- ask us to restrict what we do with it while a concern is looked into;
- receive it in a portable, machine-readable format;
- object to us using it where we rely on legitimate interests; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, without needing to give a reason.
Email abdur@arbabadvisory.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have a chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
08 If you are in the United States
We welcome enquiries from US businesses, and we apply the same standards to your information as to everyone else's: we collect only what you send us, we use it only to reply to you, and we do not sell or share it for advertising.
Several US states — including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others — give residents rights to know what is held about them, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. To exercise any other right, email us using the address in section 12 and we will honour the request, whichever state you are in.
09 Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection, and your enquiry is transmitted encrypted. Our email and form accounts are protected by strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication. Access is limited to those who need it to do the work.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office within the timescales the law sets.
Please do not send bank details, tax references or identity documents through the enquiry form. Once we are in touch we will arrange a secure way to exchange anything sensitive.
10 Children
This site offers services to businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
11 Changes to this page
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change materially affects information you have already given us, we will contact you directly rather than relying on you noticing.
